Stronger storms across central and western areas will be capable of producing rain at rates over 1 inch per hour with microburst wind gusts over 50 mph this evening. Minor flooding is likely with a potential for isolated areas of flash flooding.
Thunderstorms will persist across western and central New Mexico this evening with locally heavy rainfall possible. Stay out of arroyos and do not cross flooded roadways.
Showers and thunderstorms will persist through the weekend. Storms will favor the north central mountains and far western New Mexico on Saturday, but increasing moisture on Sunday will yield storms area wide. Flash flooding remains possible, particularly on Sunday.
An active weather pattern with scattered to numerous thunderstorms is expected this weekend. The highest probability for precipitation will stretch from the southwestern mountains of New Mexico to the northern mountains and northeastern plains.
Dew point temperature is one of many parameters used to monitor moisture surges of the North American Monsoon across the Southwestern U.S.
