Westerly breezes gradually diminish this evening, but should be enough to keep overnight low temperatures generally 5 to 10 degrees above normal for mid-April. A back-door cold front is expected to edge into northeastern New Mexico after midnight, bringing breezy northerly winds.
Our stretch of warm spring weather will be interrupted by a back- door cold front, which initially arrives late tonight for the northeast plains. A second, stronger easterly push moves through Friday night into early Saturday, bringing a more widespread cooldown as well as our highest precipitation chances of the week. A few thunderstorms are possible Saturday in the central part of NM. Much warmer early next week.
