Winds will gradually diminish overnight as a cold front moves south through the northern half of the state. A few showers are possible across western New Mexico toward sunrise.
Moderate to Extreme travel impacts across the northern mountains and along the eastern foothills of the Sangre's.
Increasing chances for precipitation over the region as a storm system approaches. Highs will be a little cooler and mostly below average, especially west and central.
Winter returns late this week. A cold upper level storm system combined with a strong cold front at the surface will drop temperatures significantly Saturday and Saturday night. A hard freeze is possible for many locales.

Road closures are likely for and along I-25 towards the CO border including Raton Pass Saturday through Saturday night. Other major impacts from heavy snowfall in the northern mtns are likely.
Snow will return in earnest across much of northeast and east central New Mexico Friday night through Saturday.
