One more day of fire weather concerns today, then lighter winds, cooler temperatures and increasing humidities on Saturday.
Showers and thunderstorms will arrive during the holiday weekend, and become widespread on Memorial Day. Be aware of lightning during outdoor activities - you may need to go indoors.
Thunderstorms could impact portions of northeastern New Mexico by the Sunday, expanding farther west into the Memorial Day holiday. Otherwise warm temperatures and occasionally breezy conditions are expected across northern and central New Mexico throughout the 3 day holiday weekend.
Yesterday's Highs and Low Temperatures and Precipitation.
Increasing moisture with the cold front will cause the chance for showers and thunderstorms to increase along and east of the northern mountains Saturday afternoon and night. The front and associated moisture will push into central and western areas Saturday night and Sunday morning causing showers and thunderstorms to become more widespread. A slow-moving upper level low pressure system will then move over the upper Baja Peninsula drawing rich moisture for thunderstorms over NM for the bulk of the coming work week.
When thunder roars, go indoors!
