Strong winds will persist on Tuesday in central and eastern New Mexico, creating fire weather concerns and hazardous crosswinds on southwest-to-northeast oriented roadways. Winds will decrease in the early afternoon.
Critical to extreme fire weather conditions will allow for rapid and dangerous fire spread from any new spark Monday afternoon and evening, especially across the eastern plains.
Gusty west to northwest winds are expected tonight behind a cold front. The strongest winds will occur in the northern mountains and adjacent highlands
