Strong to damaging winds will favor central and eastern areas today as cooler conditions filter west to east.
Fire danger will ramp up today due to a classic break down of the upper level ridge-cold frontal passage weather pattern. The highest fire danger will be found across the eastern plains.
There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms immediately along the Texas state line Thursday afternoon. High mountain snow and valley rain likely across northern and western NM, moving west to east throughout Thursday into Friday morning. High winds likely over the eastern plains Thursday afternoon.
Winds will shift direction on Friday, but will remain strong to severe, especially in eastern New Mexico.
