A potent low pressure system will bring strong northwest winds to the area today. Sustained winds from 25 to 45 mph with gusts from 50 to even 65 mph will occur across the area, with the highest of these winds expected across western and central South Dakota. Light to sometimes moderate snow is also forecast today. Accumulations will range from a half inch to as much as 2 inches, with the highest amounts expected in the Glacial Lakes region.
