...Datum/baseline value and associated flood stages reported by
the National Weather Service Service to change on Kennicott River
at McCarthy...

On August 1 2016 the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast
Office in Anchorage Alaska and the Alaska-Pacific River Forecast
Center (APRFC) will be changing the datum (baseline) and the
associated flood stages for the river gage on the Kennicott River
near McCarthy (site MXYA2).

The water level reported by the NWS will now read exactly 1322.13
feet higher than in past years. As a result of this change the
reported river stage will now exactly match historical values reported
by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), who operate and
maintain the river gage.

Summary of flood category changes:

Flood Category Old Value New Value

Action Stage 25 FT 1347 FT
Minor Flood 28 FT 1350 FT
