The Twenty-Third Northeast Regional Operational Workshop (NROW) will be held Wednesday  2 November and Thursday 3 November 2022 at the new ETEC Building on the Harriman State Office Building Campus in Albany, NY (lat/lon 42.6812, -73.8165).  The workshop will be co-sponsored by the National Weather Service Office at Albany, New York, and the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, University at Albany. The American Meteorological Society is a cooperating organization.

                   

Papers are welcome on all aspects of Northeast United States and Southeast Canadian operational weather forecasting and should focus on the following topics: coastal storms, terrain effects, heavy precipitation forecasting, hydrology, severe storms, lake effect, use of high-resolution model data, mesoscale modeling, decision support services, social science in weather prediction, enhancement of the digital forecast process, CSTAR-funded research, and the integration of new technology into operations.  Number of oral presentations will be limited to 40 and poster presentations to 10.  Conference oral presentations are preferred in person, but virtual presentation and participation will be available via GoToMeeting.

 

Presenters should submit a one page abstract in Microsoft Word with Times New Roman 12 point font.  Please note if you would like your submission to be considered for an oral or poster presentation. Oral presenters are expected to upload their completed presentations no later than 8 am EDT Monday 31 October 2022.  Poster presenters are encouraged to submit a digital copy of their poster for inclusion on the conference webpage.  Maximum allowable dimensions for poster size are 56”(width) x 42”(height).  Information  regarding how to upload presentations will be provided to presenters after the abstract deadline in late October 2022.  Presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides.  The Steering Committee reserves the right to decline abstracts that do not address conference foci. 

   

No registration fee will be charged, however, registration is mandatory online at the conference website.  Registration is currently open and must be completed by 9 am EDT, Wednesday 26 October 2022.  The deadline for submission of abstracts is 4 pm EDT, Friday 14 October 2022.  Abstracts should be submitted electronically as email attachments.  Questions and abstract submissions should be sent to NROW Steering Committee, c/o Dan Thompson, e-mail: nws.er.nrow@noaa.gov. An abstract book will only be available online, and should be posted at the conference webpage no later than Monday, 31 October 2022.  For conference information, online registration, hotel, and general information refer to   http://www.weather.gov/aly/NROW23. There is no designated conference hotel. Hotel arrangements should be made by the attendee.  Government employees should ensure selected hotels accept the government rate.
