Early Season Winter Storm: November 10-11, 2014

Radar Loop Snowfall Totals

An early season winter storm brought snow and a period of freezing drizzle to northern parts of the region on Monday, November 10th, 2014 through Tuesday the 11th.

A band of snow lifted northward across the region Monday morning, with heavy snows falling across central Minnesota into northern Wisconsin. Locally, Jump River, WI received 4 inches by 11 a.m. Monday, with the snow shifting north shortly after that.  Most of the local area stayed precipitation free for the rest of the daytime hours.

By early evening, areas of drizzle and freezing drizzle spread into southeast Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin. Some icy spots developed on elevated surfaces - but roads were mostly ice free.

Snow returned overnight Monday, persisting into Tuesday morning, Nov.11th.  The higher totals fell across western Wisconsin, but most locations received a quick 1 to 3 inches as the snow band moved through.  With the snow coming around or during the morning rush hour, law enforcement reported many weather related slide offs and accidents as residents got their first taste of the winter driving season.  The accumulating snows exited to the east around midday.
