NWS Birmingham Receives 2012 "Larry R. Johnson Special Award"

On Wednesday, October 10th, the National Weather Service Birmingham Office, along with the Jackson, Huntsville and Memphis offices, received the "Larry R. Johnson Special Award" at the 2012 National Weather Association (NWA) conference.  This award is presented to an individual or a group to recognize unique events or extraordinary accomplishments, which significantly contributed to operational meteorology.  This year, these offices are recognized:

 

"For advanced lifesaving warnings and enhanced services during the historic April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak,
and for continued dedicated decision support to a wide range of customers."
