Tornado touched down at Selma Mall and near the high school. Several air conditioners and part of the roof was torn away at the mall. A visitor's box was destroyed at the high school baseball field.

Tornado touched down in Goodhope Community, then skipped northeastward and was observed by residents as it passed through Bellview. It lifted briefly, then touched down again near Baufield before lifting and dissipating. Three houses were damaged, a barn was destroyed, and power lines were downed. A number of large trees were snapped or uprooted. Several of which blocked Alabama Highway 49.

Tornado struck in Greenwood section of Bessemer, then moved through a mostly wooded area at tree top level. It moved across Metro Birmingham as a funnel. Damage was near $100,000. A service station was severely damaged, several houses were partially unroofed, a cinder block garage was demolished, and several other houses sustained minor damage. Numerous tree and power line damage.

Damage was estimated near $2,000,000, mostly in Opelika. About 40 structures were destroyed or sustained major damage, while about 150 others sustained lesser damage. Many trees were uprooted and power lines were downed. I-85 NE of Opelika was temporarily closed because of downed trees and power lines.
