Ernie Goetsch, (right) Meteorologist-in-Charge of the Central Illinois Weather Forecast Office in Lincoln, IL, presents Dalias Price with the Dick Hagemeyer Award, awarded to cooperative observers who have served 45 years or more. Price, 91, established the Charleston observing station on April 23, 1960, recording daily precipitation and temperature data. An instructor of meteorology, climatology, and geography at Eastern Illinois University, Price has not missed a single observation in his many years as a cooperative observer. Several members of Price's family were on hand for the award presentation. Price also spoke to the audience providing insight to the many changes he has seen over the years within the field of meteorology. The award ceremony was part of Lincoln office's Cooperative Observer Appreciation Day.

WFO Riverton, WY, forecaster Chuck Farmer represented NWS at Yellowstone Park's Heritage Days, held August 27-28, 2005, at Old Faithful Inn. Nearly 200 tourists from 26 states and four foreign countries visited the NWS exhibit which highlighted NOAA All Hazards Radio and displays of severe weather occurrences in the park. Pictures and displayed information included the 1987 F4 tornado which left a path of destruction 24 miles long and over a mile wide in places, the devastating Yellowstone wildfires of 1988, and the 2004 Sylvan Pass mudslide which completely closed the East Entrance highway for several months and is still being restored and improved.
