Welcome to your National Weather Service (NWS) Cheyenne office virtual tour.  NWS Cheyenne operates 24/7/365, and is staffed by 23 people, who are here to serve you, our customers in southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska Panhandle. 

Your NWS Cheyenne office team of 23 people is comprised of a Meteorologist-in-Charge (MIC), a Warning and Coordination Meteorologist (WCM), a Science and Operations Officer (SOO), an Administrative Support Assistant (ASA), five Senior Forecasters, five General Forecasters, a Meteorologist Intern, an Observation Program Leader (OPL), two Hydrometeorological Technicians (HMT), an Electronics Systems Analyst (ESA), an Information Technology Officer (ITO), two Electronics Technicians (ET) and one Facilities Engineering Technician (FET).  

 

Jeff Garmon, Meteorologist-in-Charge (MIC).

The Meteorologist-in-Charge leads the entire office, from our weather forecasts and warnings to equipment and facilities.  The MIC also listens to customers, partners, and colleagues to improve services, helps staff members reach their professional goals, conducts administrative functions (budget, property, personnel, procurement).

The WSR-88D radar (Doppler Weather Surveillance Radar), just northwest of the office.  The radar continuously scans a radius of 248 nautical miles around Cheyenne.
