2017 was warmer than normal with

above normal precipitation at Duluth, MN

The average temperature for 2017 was 40.4 degrees which was 0.7 degrees above the normal of 39.7 degrees making this the 27th warmest year in station history. The highest temperature for the year was 88 degrees on June 10th. The lowest temperature for the year was -26 degrees on December 31st. no monthly temperature records were broken this year.

2017 was above normal for precipitation with a total of 36.78 inches of precipitation recorded for the year. This was 5.82 inches above the normal of 30.96 inches. The greatest amount of precipitation in a 24 hour period occurred on June 28th to 29th when 2.13 inches was recorded. at least 0.01 inches of precipitation fell on 147 days. At least 0.10 inches fell on 78 days. At least 0.50 inches fell on 22 days. At least 1.00 inches fell on 9 days. No monthly precipitation records were broken this year.

2017 was below normal for snowfall with a total of 72.6 inches of snow for the year which is 13.5 inches below the normal of 86.1 inches. The greatest amount of snowfall in a 24 hour period occurred on October 27th when 10.6 inches was recorded. No monthly snowfall records were broken this year.

The average wind speed for the year was 9.9 mph. the highest sustained wind occurred on September 22nd with a speed of 47 mph out of the west. The highest peak wind gust occurred on September 22nd with a speed of 61 mph out of the west.

There were 8973 heating degree days for the year which was 471 below the normal of 9444. There were 126 cooling degree days for the year which was 79 below the normal of 205. The highest sea level pressure for the year was 30.89 inches reached on January 13th and the lowest sea level pressure reading was 29.03 inches reached on March 7th.

2017 was warmer than normal with below

normal precipitation at International Falls, MN

The average temperature for 2017 was 37.9 degrees which was 0.4 degrees above the normal of 37.5 degrees making this the 28th warmest year in station history. The highest temperature for the year was 88 degrees July 30th. The lowest temperature was -39 degrees on January 13th. No monthly temperature records were broken this year.

2017 was below normal for precipitation with a total of 23.55 inches of precipitation recorded for the year. This was 0.67 inches below the normal of 24.22 inches. The greatest amount of precipitation in a 24 hour period occurred on august 16th to 17th when 1.69 inches was recorded. At least 0.01 inches of precipitation fell on 139 days. At least 0.10 inches fell on 66 days. At least 0.50 inches fell on 10 days. At least 1.00 inches fell on 3 days. No monthly precipitation records were broken this year.

2017 was below normal for snowfall with a total of 66.9 inches of snow recorded for the year. This was 4.1 inches below the normal of 71.0 inches. The greatest amount of snowfall in a 24 hour period occurred on January 2nd to 3rd when 7.8 inches of snow was recorded. No monthly snowfall records were broken this year.

The average wind speed for the year was 6.9 mph. the highest sustained wind occurred on June 13th with a speed of 44 mph out of the east. The highest peak wind gust occurred on March 7th with a speed of 56 mph out of the west.

There were 9837 heating degree days for the year which was 385 below the normal of 10222. There were 86 cooling degree days for the year which was 107 below the normal of 193. The highest sea level pressure for the year was 30.87 inches reached on January 13th and the lowest sea level pressure reading was 29.02 inches reached on March 6th.
