EMWIN-N Test Broadcasts

EMWIN-N test broadcast now available GOES 10:

The EMWIN team working with NESDIS has created a broadcast on the GOES 10 satellite that approximates the EMWIN-N broadcast that will be present on GOES 13.  The eventual EMWIN broadcast from GOES 13 will differ in content and slightly in frequency, however the modulation, coding and data rate will be the same on both satellites.  The signal power on GOES 10 is somewhat higher than what will exist on GOES 13, but the signal to noise ratio is a close approximation.  This broadcast should aid anyone trying to design receiver equipment for EMWIN-N.

The GOES 10 satellite is at 60 degrees West and the broadcast is on 1691.4 MHz.  This broadcast will be available at least until November 2007 and will likely be extended for another additional 6 months.

EMWIN-N test broadcast on GOES 13 available in July 2007:

GOES 13 (formerly GOES-N) will be brought out of storage for a 30 day test period on or about July 17, 2007.  This will give prospective vendors an excellent opportunity to develop and test EMWIN-N receive systems. An EMWIN-N broadcast should be available for much of the 30 day test period. This will present vendors interested in producing EMWIN-N equipment an opportunity to test their systems under real conditions with a broadcast directly from the satellite.
