A Flash Flood Watch will go into effect at 2 PM on Friday and will last until Friday evening. 1 to 3 inches of rain have fallen along and north of I-20 over the last 24 hours and an additional 1-2 inches (with locally higher amounts possible) are possible this afternoon through Saturday evening. This could produce flash flooding given the saturated state of the ground. Stay tuned to local media, weather radio, and other reliable weather sources for further information should flooding occur. Remember, turn around, don't drown!
Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible for north and west GA this afternoon and into the night. A line of showers and thunderstorms will move from west to east across the central and northern part of the region, and scattered thunderstorms are also possible during the night. The main risks associated with these storms will be damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. A tornado watch has been issued for far northwest GA and will expire at 9:00 PM.
Shown on the map are the expected low temperatures, weather conditions, and probabilities of precipitation for tonight.
