As temperatures continue to fall, there will be some icing concerns mainly across areas along and northwest of a Comanche to Denton to Bonham line. The worst icing is expected to be in areas from Eastland to Mineral wells to Gainesville northwestward. The first things to freeze will be elevated surfaces, such as bridges and overpasses. In the areas where temperatures fall into the 26 to 28 degree range ice will likely start to accumulated on all roadways.
It will remain cloudy and cold through this afternoon. Freezing rain is expected along and northwest of an Eastland to Gainesville line and either rain or freezing rain elsewhere along and northwest of a Goldthwaite to Denton to Bonham line. There will be showers and thunderstorms across the rest of North and Central Texas and heavy rain will lead to localized flooding. Highs will be in the upper 20s northwest to the mid 50s southeast. Expect north winds 15 to 20 mph.
There is an ice storm warning in effect for the counties in the dark purple shading. Additional ice accumulation of up to half an inch are possible. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the lighter shade of purple. Additional ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch are possible.
It will be cloudy and cold Thursday morning with a chance of rain or freezing rain along and northwest of a Goldthwaite to Sherman line. There will be a chance of rain elsewhere. Temperaturees will rise into the lower 30s northwest to the mid 40s southeast by midday. Some light ice accumulations will be possible in the areas where temperatures are below freezing.
A Flood Watch remains in effect along and east of a Gainesville to Mineral Wells to Killeen line where rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected with localized 6 inch amounts likely. Heavy rain will lead to flooding. Please exercise caution. Do not drive into water of unknown depth. Turn around. Don't drown.
