Light winds and relative humidity values near 100 percent in the vicinity of a slow-moving warm front have caused visibilities to drop. A Dense Fog Advisory has therefore been issues for the gray- shaded area, where visibilities will occasionally fall to a quarter mile or less. Conditions should improve early Saturday morning as an upper level disturbance approaches ans scattered showers develop. The Advisory may be adjusted depending on the movement of the front.
There will be a threat for strong to severe storms starting Saturday morning as a line develops across our western counties. The initial threat will be from large hail, but as the line moves east and encounters increasing surface-based instability with a little surface heating, the threat for damaging winds and even a few tornadoes will increase.
A Flood Watch is in effect through noon Saturday for much of North Texas. Additional rainfall accumulations of one to three inches can be expected through Saturday morning, with locally higher amounts possible. Soils are saturated across North Texas, and any additional rainfall will result in rapid runoff, likely leading to flooding.
Numerous showers and thunderstorms will linger tonight (Friday night) with a continued threat for heavy rainfall and flooding. Therefore, the Flood Watch will remain in effect tonight and continue through midday Saturday north of a line from Canton to Stephenville. Low temperatures tonight will range from the mid 30s in the northwest to some 60s in the southeast.
A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop Saturday morning out west and march eastward across the area into the afternoon and early-evening hours. Best chance for severe weather will be to the northwest during the morning hours and will shift to the eastern counties in the afternoon and evening.
