South winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts near 20 mph are expected today with high temperatures reaching the 60s.
Another fast-moving upper disturbance will bring high clouds once again. In addition, occasionally breezy south winds will keep temperatures in the 40s. The south winds may transport enough moisture at the surface for patchy fog across parts of Central Texas. Very localized dense fog cannot be ruled out for morning commuters across this region.
Fall-like weather will continue across North and Central TX this week, including Thanksgiving Day! Despite the passage of a few cold fronts this week, it'll remain mostly rain-free, though a few sprinkles will be possible on Tuesday. Most areas will remain completely dry, however. Skies each day will range between sunny and partly sunny with mostly clear to partly cloudy nights.
Here is the latest drought monitor, released on 11/17/17 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Note that this map is valid for the areas serviced by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Little to no measurable rain is forecast over the next week for our area.
The fall season (September-November) has been dry throughout much of North and Central Texas. Without additional precipitation before the end of November, Waco's autumn tally of 2.95" will rank among the top 10 driest on record. At DFW Airport, only 3.40" of rain has fallen since the beginning of September, more than 6 inches below the normal value for the entire fall season.
