After two days of heavy rain across eastern Utah and western Colorado, grounds were already well saturated. On the third day of the monsoonal moisture surge, July 21st, many of these storms caused local flooding across the region. One area in particular was in Garfield County near Rifle, Colorado where the heavy rains produced mudslides and road closures. Highway 325 was closed for almost 2 hours when over a foot of mud was across the road. Both County Road 233 and 251 also had water flowing across them.
