Another round of heavy rainfall expected in the South

...TORNADO CONFIRMED IN DAVIE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS COMPLETED ITS PRELIMINARY SURVEY
OF THE DAMAGE TRACK NEAR THE UNINCORPORATED COMMUNITIY OF CORNATZER
IN DAVIE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA.

THE DAMAGE INDICATED THAT A SMALL EF-0 TORNADO STRUCK THE COMMUNITY 
TUESDAY EVENING.  THE TRACK OF THE TORNADO WAS ABOUT 1200 YARDS
LONG AND 25 YARDS WIDE.

THE HEAVIEST DAMAGE WAS TO A MOBILE HOME AND SURROUNDING BUILDINGS 
ON CORNATZER ROAD.  BASED ON THIS DAMAGE THE WIND SPEED WAS ESTIMATED
TO BE BETWEEN 75 AND 80 MPH.

A TORNADO WATCH AND A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING WHICH MENTIONED
THE POSSIBILITY OF A SMALL TORNADO WERE IN EFFECT AT THE TIME THE
STORM HIT.
