...TORNADO CONFIRMED IN LIBERTY SOUTH CAROLINA...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS
SURVEYED DAMAGE PRODUCED BY A TORNADO IN PICKENS COUNTY SOUTH
CAROLINA. THE STORM OCCURRED ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF LIBERTY AT
224 PM EST. THE TORNADO TRACK WAS ABOUT 20 YARDS WIDE AND 200
YARDS LONG. IT MOVED ACROSS THE PARKING LOT OF LIBERTY ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL. 15 PEOPLE WERE INJURED AND NINE CARS WERE SERIOUSLY
DAMAGED.

THE STORM IS TENTATIVELY RATED AT F1 WITH WIND SPEEDS ESTIMATED
BETWEEN 95 AND 105 MPH.
