Comment period over

During 2006, NWS accepted several thousand comments on proposed weather forecast icons. At this time, NWS is no longer accepting comments. A review of those comments overwhelming showed a perference to stay with the current icons. As of the summer of 2007, NWS has no plans to change the icons.

The original comment page is provided below for historical purposes.


We are accepting comments of proposed changes to the weather forecast icons found on "Forecast At A Glance pages (an example page for Washington DC) and the text forecast.

Below are a sampling of eight text forecasts, the icons currently used, and possible replacement icons.

The icons selected will be standardized on all forecast pages of NOAA's National Weather Service.

Your comments on the icons would be appreciated.
