As a strong low pressure system moves east across the mid-Mississippi Valley today, a threat of severe weather exists from central parts of Illinois and Indiana, southward to the Gulf Coast.

- Main threat will be during the afternoon hours
- Threat lingers until near sunset near the Indiana border
Locations Impacted
- Highest chances of severe weather: Charleston, Mattoon, Effingham, Flora, Olney, Lawrenceville.
- Severe storms also possible around Springfield, Decatur, Champaign, Danville.
What is Expected
- Main threats: Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and hail at least the size of quarters.
- Risk of tornadoes, mainly along and south of I-70.
