NOAA Weather Radio station WXJ-75 in Springfield, which operates on a frequency of 162.400 MHz, will be off the air Wednesday, beginning around 7:30 am. The emergency generator at the transmitter site, hosted by radio station WUIS, will be replaced. This requires the power to be turned off during the process. It is expected to be operational again by afternoon. 

Some surrounding transmitters that serve part of the WXJ-75 listening area include:

  • KZZ-65 in Bloomington (162.525 MHz) can be received in northeast Logan and northern De Witt Counties.
  • WXJ-76 in Champaign (162.550 MHz) can be received in parts of De Witt and Macon Counties.
  • KXI-79 in Hillsboro (162.425 MHz) can be received in eastern Macoupin and most of Montgomery Counties.
  • WXM-90 in Jacksonville (162.525 MHz) can be received in Cass and Morgan Counties, as well as far western Sangamon County.
  • WXJ-92 in Macomb (162.500 MHz) can be received in western Cass County. 
  • WXJ-71 in Peoria (162.475 MHz) can be received in Mason and Logan Counties.
  • KXI-46 in Shelbyville (162.500 MHz) can be received in Christian and southern Macon Counties.
