Replacement of the Interactive Weather Information Network (IWIN) website will become effective Decmeber, 5, 2006. Effective December 5, 2006, requests to the IWIN website will be automatically redirected to replacement web pages.
Background information regarding public comments, input and resulting reports follow.
In the fall of 2005, the Interactive Weather Information Network (IWIN) was proposed for termination following the process described
in National Weather Service Instruction 1-1002.
More then 2,400 comments were collected from users over a 90 day period. Based on those comments, NWS proposed to replace the IWIN website. A report on the comments is available here.
During the spring of 2006, about 250 additional comments were collected regarding the proposed replacement web pages. A report on these comments is available here.
NWS has reproduced the majority of IWIN pages. The replacement pages contain either the same information or additional information. IWIN pages that are dead links or contain no or outdated information have not been reproduced. Links to the replacement pages:
Additional information:
- The EMWIN service is not affected;
- EMWIN information pages will be hosted on another webserver. Redirects will be used to seamlessly direct users to the new locations;
- IWIN pages will be automatically redirected to the replacement pages that contain the same information. Bookmarks and links will continue to work.
