Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible today across portions of South Central and Southeast Mississippi. The primary concern with the most intense storms will be damaging wind gusts. However, hail to the size of quarters and a tornado cannot be ruled out.
Localized flash flooding from heavy rains will be possible today into this evening over locations mainly along and east of the Mississippi River, as a strong cold front moves into the region, triggering numerous showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall totals of 2-3 inches are possible, with locally higher gusts not out of the question.
For Today there will be periods of showers and thunderstorms with highs in the middle to upper 70s. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible.
Showers and thunderstorms will decrease from the west with locally heavy rain possible through the night. Lows will be from the middle 50s to around 60.
