March 2, 2015 marked the three year anniversary of the historic tornado outbreak that brought widespread destruction to eastern Kentucky, including the cities of West Liberty and Salyersville. Over the past couple of years the Jackson National Weather Service Office has been involved in a project with the Magoffin County Schools that not only provides severe weather education, but also gives students the opportunity to reflect about their experiences through art and writing.
To observe the three year anniversary of the March 2 tornado outbreak we wanted to share some of the artwork and narratives from students in the Magoffin County Schools. This art and writing can serve as encouragement to us all. Please click on an item in the following list to read a narrative.
