SHORT TERM FORECAST:Through 800 am, isolated to scattered showers will develop and move quickly northwest near 25 mph through the Straits of Florida, south southeast of the Lower Keys, and potentially cross the island chain, moving in to the nearshore waters to the north. Boaters and residents can expect the strongest of showers to generate brief pockets of moderate to heavy rain, and wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph. Island communities from Sugarloaf Key to Key West could receive up to a quarter of an inch of rainfall.
TODAY...Partly cloudy with a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 80s. Southeast winds near 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
