A Marginal Risk of severe weather is expected this afternoon and evening across portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, primarily along and to the north of a line from Baton Rouge to Pascagoula, Mississippi. The primary threats will be large hail and damaging wind gusts. Conditions should improve after midnight.
Today's weather will feature a cold frontal passage in the evening to bring cooler and drier conditions to the region by the mid to late evening. There is a chance of thunderstorms ahead of the cold front, some of which may become strong with frequent lightning, brief heavy rainfall fall and strong wind gusts, especially over southwest Mississippi. Temperatures will have a more seasonable feel on Thursday and Friday with highs in the middle and upper 60s.
Climate data for March 1.
