The National Weather Service in Louisville monitors multiple sources of webcam imagery as "eyes on the ground" for weather information, especially in areas not covered by automated weather observing stations. Another benefit of this program is to try and forecast what cloud cover may be for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse, on August 21st. Below are a series of webcams across southern Kentucky and north central Tennessee and what they looked like last year at around 2:30 PM EDT/1:30 PM CDT from August 14th to 28th. It is still too early to get an exact forecast for any larger weather systems in the region for that date. But looking at previous imagery can give some insight into the conditions possible for this year.
