A High Wind Watch is in effect for the southern TX Panhandle, as well as the northern half of the South and Rolling Plains on Friday from 11 AM to 7 PM. North and northwest winds are expected to increase to 40 to 45 mph with gusts to 55 mph or higher. Driving may become difficult for high profile or compact vehicles. Areas of blowing dust may reduce visibility.
A dry cold front will push through early Friday afternoon with strong winds and increasing fire weather concerns remaing for the remainder of the afternoon and early evening. Saturday is shaping up to be a beautiful day across West Texas.
