A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM on Thursday for all of the South and Rolling Plains and the southern TX Panhandle. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged. A High Wind Watch is in effect from noon to 6 PM on Thursday for the South Plains and extreme southwestern TX Panhandle. Blowing dust may severely reduce visibility at times. Driving on north and south oriented roads may be difficult at times.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM on Friday for the South Plains and the extreme southwestern TX Panhandle. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged. Temperatures will be significantly cooler on Friday, however, winds will still be gusty on the Caprock at 25 to 30 mph with higher gusts. Widespread blowing dust may reduce visibility at times on the Caprock.
