After a quiet start to the work week, the potential for severe weather returns to Arkansas on Wednesday. A new storm system will bring a cold front through the state Wednesday and Wednesday night. A line of thunderstorms is expected to accompany the front. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary concerns, along with isolated tornadoes. Please keep up to late with the latest forecasts and statements from your National Weather Service in the coming days.
The unsettled weather pattern will continue across Arkansas later this week. A series of storm systems are forecast to affect the region, along with the potential for additional rounds of severe weather. The timing and extent of the severe weather potential will become better defined in the coming days.
An active period of wet weather will commence starting Wednesday, with the potential for heavy rain late this week and into the upcoming weekend. Flash Flood and River Flooding could become a concern depending how the series of storm systems track across the region.
Active weather is in the forecast for the remainder of the week, where four of the next seven days could bring chances for severe weather. Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, heavy rain, and flooding are all concerns.
It will remain mild and a bit chilly across the state tonight, with lows mainly in the 50's.
