.SUMMARY...
WHILE THERE WERE A FEW WARM PERIODS DURING THE SECOND AND THIRD WEEK 
OF THE MONTH, MAY COMPLETELY BUCKED THE TRENDS OF THE LAST YEAR, 
WITH TEMPERATURES WELL BELOW AVERAGE. 

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWO YEARS, AND ONLY THE FOURTH TIME IN THE 
LAST TWO DECADES, NO 90-DEGREE TEMPERATURES WERE RECORDED IN THE 
MONTH OF MAY, AND THE TEMPERATURE HAS YET TO REACH 90 DEGREES FOR 
THE YEAR. LOOKING AT COMPLETE YEARS OF TEMPERATURE DATA FROM LITTLE 
ROCK FROM 1880-2016, THIS HAPPENED IN ONLY ABOUT A THIRD OF ALL 
YEARS. 

RAINFALL WAS NEARLY TWO INCHES ABOVE THE 30-YEAR AVERAGE. IT WAS THE 
WETTEST MAY IN TWO YEARS. 

.MONTHLY TEMPERATURES...
THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS THE COOLEST SINCE 2013. THE AVERAGE 
LOW TEMPERATURE WAS THE COOLEST SINCE 2005. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY 
TEMPERATURE WAS THE COOLEST SINCE 2002.

.Summary...
While there were a few warm periods during the second and third week 
of the month, May completely bucked the trends of much of the last 
year, with temperatures below average for the month. 

For the third year in a row, no 90-degree temperatures were recorded 
in the month of May, and the temperature has yet to reach 90 degrees 
for the year. Looking at complete years of temperature data for 
North Little Rock from 1976-2016, this has happened in a little over 
one third of all years. 

Rainfall was over two inches above the 30-year average. It was the 
wettest May in two years. 

.Monthly Temperatures...
Even though temperatures were below average, the high, low and 
monthly temperatures were the warmest since 2015. 

.Daily Temperatures...
Daily temperatures were above average on 13 days, average on two 
days, and below average on 16 days.

On the 4th, the high temperature of 56 degrees went down as the 8th 
coolest high temperature on record in the month of May.
