Storm systems tracking across the Gulf Coast produced much needed rain during the first week of December, especially in drought stricken areas of the southeast United States (including Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee). In Arkansas, half inch to inch and a half amounts were common, with locally over two inches across the southern counties. Much of the rain fell between the 3rd and the 6th.

Storm systems ("L") tracking across southern United States brought spotty light rain to Arkansas on 12/07/2016. Arctic high pressure ("H") to the northwest provided much colder air, and brief light snow/flurries as precipitation ended.
