MARFC is looking to hire someone with a demonstrated strong interest in Hydrology/Water Resources science and services. As described in the vacancyannouncement job duties, this is an opportunity to work on a wide range of science, modeling, technology, or service projects in addition to performing daily hydrologic forecast functions. We work closely with other NWS offices (e.g. the Office of Water Prediction/National Water Center, Weather Forecast Offices, and other River Forecast Centers), other NOAA offices, partners in the federal, state, and local governments, river basin commissions, and academic partners to develop and deliver the best possible hydrologic forecast services. Flood forecasting is always an exciting challenge in the Mid-Atlantic region given the complex hydrometeorology, varying terrain and river morphology, and relatively dense population.

MARFC is located in State College, PA. State College, PA is a great place to live and has an excellent school system. It is nationally ranked as 'one of the safest small cities in America', 'among the top 10 smaller metro areas in which to start a career or business', and ‘one of the least stressful places in the United States.’ For additional information see:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_College,_PA. State College is within 3 hour drive of Pittsburgh and Baltimore, and a 4 hour drive of Washington and Philadelphia.

Please note that these are Federal government positions and require US citizenship and a background check.
