There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms across portions of west Tennessee and north Mississippi on Saturday. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats for any thunderstorms that reach severe limits. There is a secondary threat for isolated tornadoes and flash flooding.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight There is a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms late this evening and overnight for eastern Arkansas, the Missouri bootheel, northwest Mississippi and far west Tennessee. Damaging winds large hail will be possible with any storms that reach severe limits. There is a limited risk for a brief tornado, mainly west of the Mississippi River. Winds will likely reach advisory criteria by mid to late evening, ahead of an approaching line of thunderstorms. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday There is a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms Saturday over north Mississippi and southwest Tennessee. Large hail and damaging winds will be possible, along with localized flash flooding and an isolated tornado or two. Severe thunderstorms chances return Monday. Any storms that reach severe limits on Monday could carry an enhanced potential for producing large and damaging hail. Another round of severe storms will be possible on Thursday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be needed through the upcoming week, in response to multiple potential severe weather episodes.
