West Wall of the Gulf Stream Average Positions

The 100 fathom line is sometimes used to approximate the west wall of the Gulf Stream. The following table lists the distance to the 100 fathom line from selected locations:

Note: The NWS west wall positions in the Coastal Waters Forecast are based on satellite derived Sea Surface Temperatures and often reflect warm eddies intruding onto the Continental Shelf.
