An arctic cold front will move across the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians Tuesday, bringing with it accumulating snow and frigid temperatures. Widespread snowfall accumulation totals of 1 to 3 inches is expected Tuesday into early Wednesday morning with 2 to 4 inches expected in the higher elevations. Please stay tuned to the latest forecast for further updates.
Accumulating snow is expected to begin along the plateau in the morning hours and progress eastward through the day. Roads may become snow covered and slick soon after the beginning of snow with temperatures below freezing on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
As snow moves across the area on Tuesday, hazardous travel will be possible as roads become slick, especially untreated roads. If driving, remember to leave plenty of distance between yourself and cars in front of you. Please allow extra time to reach your destination.
Road conditions may be obtained in-state by dialing 5-1-1 in Tennessee and Virginia.
