A cold front will bring the potential of severe thunderstorms across the Plateau and southeast Tennessee late Thursday and Thursday night. Damaging winds and hail will be the main concern, but isolated tornadoes are possible.
A High Wind Watch is in effect for the far east Tennessee Mountains and Foothills for late Thursday through early Friday morning.
When the storm system moves through the area, heavy rains will fall Thursday night. The most intense rains will likely be on and near the Cumberland Plateau. Some locations there will likely get more than one storm with heavy rains.
Above normal temperatures and fair weather are expected today and tonight. The warmth will continue on Thursday, but rain chances will be slowly increasing through the afternoon.
