In case you missed it, heavy snow fell over parts of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa Friday night through Saturday. Some locations received over 10 inches of snow. The map below indicates the GENERAL area and GENERAL snow amounts. The highest amount that we have seen reported was 14 inches in Johnson county in the Sterling area. The heaviest snow fell in a fairly narrow band, 25 to 30 miles wide. This made the forecast challenging. When we say "locally higher amounts possible" it is because it is usually difficult to say ahead of time if, when and exactly where one of these heavy snow bands will develop. Forecast amounts in the Omaha area were 2 to 6 inches, and forecast amounts in the Lincoln area were 3 to 6 inches - fairly close to what actually occurred.
