CHPS project activities during Q2 and Q3 FY09
- OHD and the CAT began CHPS-related preparations for the remaining nine RFCs, which are now collectively referred to as "CAT-II". Regular CAT-II conference calls were initiated on March 10. Minutes from these meetings can be found here. The group’s first accomplishment was completion of an updated requirements document called the "Baseline Operational Capability II for CAT-II RFCs" (referred to as BOC-II); a copy is located here. This document serves as a user view of functional requirements for CHPS.
- CHPS migration training for the CAT RFCs was held in February 2009. More details here.
- Three months into their own migration activities, the CAT RFCs took time to lead a series of "Buddy visits" at each of the remaining nine RFCs (CAT-II). More details are provided here.
- CHPS prototype hardware for the CAT and CAT-II was specified and a purchase initiated. More information can be found here.
- BOC models are now complete and ready for testing before deployment to the CAT RFCs; BOC-II models almost ready for testing. More details can be found here.
- The CHPS/HEC-RAS project is entering its final phase; further information is provided here.
- Updates regarding the XEFS project can be found here.
- Updates for the CHPS Forcings Team can be found here.
NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS) River Forecast Centers (RFCs) are key partners in the provision of water resource information. NOAA’s Community Hydrologic Prediction System (CHPS) will enable NOAA’s water research and development enterprise and operational service delivery infrastructure to be integrated and leveraged with other federal water agency activities, academia, and the private sector.
