ABOVE: Observed low temperatures on January 7, 2014

A major arctic cold front moved through Middle Tennessee on January 5, 2014, bringing light snow of 1-3" to much of the area. Temperatures ahead of the cold front rose into the 50s on January 5, but fell nearly 50 degrees behind the front into the single digits on January 6, 2014. Some of the coldest temperatures seen in Middle Tennessee since 1996 occurred in the following days, with much of the region falling below zero.
