The training objective of this instructional component is to get
familiar with Intra-decadal and Long-term Climate variability on
examples of Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), Climate Change, Thermohaline
Circulation and Solar and Lunar variability. Each climate phenomenon
is described in terms of its physical mechanisms, life cycles, predictability
and impact on weather or climate patterns. To meet the Instructional
Component 2.5 requirements a trainee is expected to complete the
following modules:
2.5.1. Pacific Decadal Oscillations (residence
training on Climate Variability)
2.5.2. Global Change
Climate Change: Fitting the Pieces Together(
webcast )
Global Climate Change: Physical Mechanism, Prediction, and Impacts
(residence training
on Climate Variability)
Global Climate Change: Communicating to Local Customers (residence
training on Operational Climate Services)
2.5.3. Thermohaline Circulation(residence
training on Climate Variability)
2.5.4. Solar and Lunar Impacts (not available at this
time)
