Turn Around Don’t Drown Reaches Brownsville, Texas

In continuing efforts to educate people about flood hazards, the National Weather Service (NWS) partnered with NBC affiliate (KVEO TV-23, Brownsville) to complete a Turn Around Don’t Drown Public Service Announcement (PSA).

“This PSA has received quite a bit of air-play down here the past 3-4 weeks,” stated Jesus Haro, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, from the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Brownsville, TX. “They usually play it during commercial breaks of the morning "Today" show broadcast.”

Jesus stated that KVEO-TV also plays it during the late night hours. “KVEO has been a wonderful partner of our office during my entire tenure here, and they are also currently playing PSAs in support of rip current safety and weather myths,” said Haro.
