Overview

A second consecutive day of severe weather hit the lower Ohio Valley on Wednesday May 11th. A wide range of hazards occurred including damaging winds, large hail, flooding, and three confirmed tornadoes. A cluster of thunderstorms developed during the early afternoon hours near the St. Louis metro area and spread east/southeast along the I-64 corridor during the afternoon. Several clusters of storms formed and pushed further south across southern IL, southwest IN, and northwest KY through the evening hours. A secondary line of storms formed later in the evening to our northwest with a bowing line moving through the area into the early morning hours.

Summary:

Many trees were snapped and uprooted along the path. Tornado touched down 4 miles W/SW of Owensville and lifted 2.5 miles W of town.
