Severe Thunderstorms in the South/Central Plains and Mississippi Valley

Severe thunderstorms are forecast for the South/Central Plains and Mississippi Valley this afternoon and evening; with an enhanced threat, including a chance for tornadoes, in the ArkLaTex area. High fire danger caused by hot and dry conditions, and strong winds continue in the southern Plains; while an active weather pattern keeps conditions wet with heavy mountain snows out west. SKYWARNTM training sessions are mostly offered in the Spring, but are offered at other times of the year. These sessions are open to the public. A ham radio license, although helpful, is not a requirement of the Skywarn Spotter Program. You can attend out of county training sessions.  Certifications can be found here for those who have taken the courses.
