Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
250 PM EST Tue Dec 12 2017

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST WEDNESDAY ALONG THE
BLUE RIDGE

.DISCUSSION...

Much colder air on strong northwest winds will continue to work
into the region overnight. The winds will be gusting as high as
45 to 55 mph, mainly in the mountains. Will see accumulating snow
showers persist across the western slopes from West Virginia, to
the North Carolina mountains especially this evening. Weak high
pressure builds in by Wednesday afternoon causing winds to weaken.
Another weaker clipper moves in by late Wednesday night into
Thursday with another round of mountain snow showers and flurries.
Drier weather should follow for the end of the week before another
system brings rain showers for Sunday into early Monday.

Overall, below normal temperatures will keep fire danger low
through the end of the week.
